There are tons of Peloton strength workouts to choose from – as well as quite a number of Peloton Strength instructors to work out with.
While having lots of options for Peloton strength training classes to choose from can be exciting, it can also be hard to know where to begin.
However, as an avid Peloton strength fan myself, I’ve done just about every type of Peloton strength class multiple times and sampled Peloton strength workouts from every available strength instructor on the platform.
We’ve put together the best Peloton strength classes to try for various workout goals and fitness levels.

What Equipment Do You Need for Peloton Strength Classes?
If you’re interested in doing Peloton strength classes, it’s important that you are set up with the right equipment. Although the Peloton bike comes with two 3-pound dumbbells, you’ll need additional weights to make the most of them.
If you have the Peloton bike and are brand new to strength training, however, you can certainly just get started with the included 3-pound dumbbells. However, most users will quickly progress to needing additional, heavier weights.
Generally, you will want adjustable dumbbells or quite a few pairs of dumbbells of different weights, depending on your current level of strength and the strength improvements you’re targeting.
The latter is largely determined by how much you plan to do Peloton strength classes.
A pair of adjustable dumbbells will save you a lot of room and potentially save you a fair amount of money as well. Adjustable dumbbells come in a range of weights, but beginners can probably get by with 5-25 pounds, whereas advanced and serious weight lifters might want to get adjustable dumbbells that go up to 50 pounds or more.
Finally, if you don’t have the money to buy weights and you still want to do Peloton strength classes, there are a limited number of Peloton strength workouts that use resistance bands. You can find these workouts by navigating to the strength classes in the app.
Click on the filter icon and then scroll down to class themes. Select “Resistance Band“, and you’ll find the Peloton strength resistance band workouts that do not require dumbbells.
These workouts are taught by instructors Andy Speer and Hannah Corbin.
The 3 Best Peloton Strength Classes
#1: Best Peloton Strength Class for Beginners: Total Strength with Andy Speer
Although Peloton initially incorporated some amount of strength training in the Peloton bike workouts by incorporating light weights for arm exercises, it wasn’t really until around 2019 that the Peloton strength classes became their own separate category and were fully fleshed out.
The debut Peloton strength class was Andy Speer’s Total Strength program. It’s actually far more robust than a single strength training class, as it is a four-week program consisting of 18 strength training classes.
This oldie-but-goldie has absolutely withstood the test of time, and it is one of the best Peloton strength classes for beginner and intermediate lifters alike.
Each of the strength training workouts in the “Total Strength with Andy” program has a warm-up and then targets different areas of your body.
One of the unique and favorable features of the program is that there is a strength test so that you can assess your current muscular strength and then return to the test to see how you progress throughout the program.
Trainer Andy Speer does a fantastic job giving plenty of instruction about how to perform each exercise and gives useful information about what muscles are worked and why the exercise is important.
Overall, it’s a great foundational strength training program with solid principles, reasonable progression, and lots of helpful cueing, which is why it’s the best Peloton strength class for beginners.

#2: Best Peloton Strength Class for Advanced Athletes: Peloton Split Training
One of the more recent additions to the Peloton strength classes lineup are the Peloton split training workouts.
Introduced in 2022, the Peloton split training classes are a series of workouts that target specific body parts on different days of the week, in the style of body parts splits that many bodybuilders and weightlifters use.
The current Peloton Strength Split Training Programs include the following:
- Callie’s Intermediate 3-Day Split (with instructor Callie Gullickson)
- Matty’s Intermediate 5-Day Split (with instructor Matty Maggiacomo)
- Robin’s Advanced 3-Day Split (with instructor Robin Arzon)
- Adrian’s Advanced 5-Day Split (with instructor Adrian Williams)
Each of these Peloton Strength programs includes a certain number of workouts per week, as noted in the name of the workout program, and you are supposed to complete all of them each week by evenly spacing them out (if possible!).
Because each workout class targets different muscle groups or areas of the body, by the end of the week, you’ve trained all of your muscle groups for a total-body strength training program.
This type of body parts split routine can be highly effective for hypertrophy (muscle growth, or increases in muscle size) as well as increases in strength.
It is often favored by more advanced weightlifters and bodybuilders, although it’s certainly possible for more intermediate athletes. However, these Peloton Strength classes are rigorous and not particularly suitable for beginners.
Not only are the exercises more advanced and the progression more aggressive, but the instruction and cueing are geared more towards athletes who have familiarity with the basics and need fine-tuning rather than fundamentals.
If you embark on any of these Peloton strength training programs, expect to be sore! But, the good news is that your hard work will pay off. If you push yourself and stay consistent, you should definitely notice improvements in your strength and muscle tone.
You are supposed to repeat each program on a weekly basis, gradually increasing the resistance that you use as your strength improves.
#3: Best Peloton Strength Class for Structured Workouts: Peloton Roll Call
If you like the extra accountability of taking a live workout class, you will love the Peloton Roll Call strength classes, especially if you have the Peloton Guide.
First introduced in May 2022, the Peloton introduced Roll Call classes are a daily strength training workout that kicks off every weekday morning at 7:30 am EST.
Having the consistency of these ongoing weekday strength training classes Is a fantastic way to kickstart your morning and build a habit of getting in your resistance training workout. The Peloton Roll Call program essentially offers a built-in accountability partner.
Typically, every Monday and Friday of the Roll Call classes are total-body strength training workouts. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday usually focus on arms, core, or legs, picking just one region of the body as the primary target for the exercises in the workout.
Although there’s nothing to say that you have to do all five workouts per week, the intention is that if you do, you will get a very well-rounded total-body strength training workout routine each week.
One of the benefits of the Peloton Strength Roll Call classes is that there are nearly a dozen instructors who may lead one of the workouts, offering lots of variety in terms of instructional style, music, motivation, and pacing.
