Every January, a new fleet of race bikes rolls out across the WorldTour peloton. And every year, the price gap between the cheapest and most expensive team setups grows wider. In 2026, the range stretches from surprisingly accessible builds to Tadej Pogačar’s Colnago setup, which pushes past the £15,000 mark with its top-spec everything approach.

The Top End

At the pinnacle sits Pogačar’s UAE Team Emirates-XRG Colnago, a full carbon masterpiece equipped with the latest SRAM Red eTap AXS groupset and ultralight wheels. The attention to detail extends to every component, with weight savings measured in single grams and aerodynamic optimization at every junction. It is the closest thing to a Formula 1 car on two wheels.

These bikes represent exceptional performance with perhaps marginally less exotic componentry than the absolute top builds.

The gap between the cheapest and most expensive WorldTour bikes, in terms of actual race performance, is measured in seconds over hours of racing. But for fans of cycling technology, the annual comparison remains one of the most fascinating aspects of the new season.
