Track cycling takes place on a banked velodrome and uses fixed-gear bikes with no brakes. Disciplines include sprints, individual and team pursuits, points races, keirin, and madison — each demanding a different mix of explosive power, aerobic capacity, and tactical positioning. Track is the discipline where cycling’s shortest, most explosive efforts (8–20 second flying-200s, sub-30-second 250m kilo openings) are paired with the smartest pacing in the sport.
